Wide open vistas allow you to see the immense scale of the trees around you. The photo opportunities on this ride are endless.
The 1500 acre private reserve we ride on is called La Quina. La Quina is a tree that produces leaves that help in the treatment of malaria When the family that own this piece of heaven first moved here in 1850 their ancestors grew these trees to help people in neighbouring farms and villages who had the awful disease. Luckily those days are behind us and the farm now focuses on making hay bales, but they also have cows, pigs and sheep.
The wild animals that make their home here range from Monkeys, sloths, toucans, scarlet macaws, deer, and wild pigs. Small wild cats also make this sanctuary their home.
Jose, the owner studied at the Earth University and is committed to preserving the wonderful paradise his family have guarded over the years.
When we ride we stop off at a wonderful spring fed waterfall where we get covered in the most amazing "therapeutic volcanic mud" (don't worry we don't roll around in a pool of mud!) it is a wonderful experience and your skin will literally glow afterwards.
Our horses are treated with the utmost respect and honoured for the wonderful creatures they are! With this in mind please respect our weight limit of 200lbs.
