Sunday was a wonderful day, and one i had been looking forward to for a long time. It didn't turn out quite as i planned but it was great all the same.

I have had the pleasure of my friend Linda from the UK visiting with her sister Fran. They are both riders, so when i heard about the local horse event of the year in our village here in Costa Rica, i thought we must go and join in. A cabalgata is an event where all the locals come together with their horses and go for a ride with a rest for a beer and a boca half way through.

We prettied up the horses and cleaned our saddle. Cowboy hats on and my fab new boots from the UK (Thanks Mum your ace!) and we went off . It was crazy hot and a storm was brewing but i wasn't deterred! We rode off across the stunning Costa Rican countryside with 40 other cowboys. It was a wonderful day and i am waiting for photos. I stayed pretty cool for the second half of the ride whilst everyone else was sweating. That would be thanks to my horse Casper who decided to lie down in the river!!! How embarrassing! My new boots got filled with gravel. I was lovely and cool afterwards!
